Direct Deposit

Direct Deposit is a simple, safe and smart way to pay your employees. Over 93% of employees worldwide are currently participating in direct deposit. A few big advantages of direct deposit are the security and convenience of removing costly, labor intensive paper checks from your payroll process. As with any purely electronic process it also reduces human error, making your payroll process even more efficient and accurate.

Big Fish also offers you a wide range of capabilities allowing employees to have all wages deposited into one account or have wages split to multiple accounts, or even to a payroll debit card (payroll debit cards with established routing and account numbers).

General Ledger

Big Fish offers seamless importing of your payroll information to your General Ledger. Big Fish’s General Ledger Interface provides you, or your accountant, online access to payroll data with every payroll. A General Ledger file can be formatted with an .iif extension to allow a direct import directly into QuickBooks.  We can also provide a file for importing with either a .csv or .xls format. Lastly, for those who do not want a direct import we can provide a hard copy report. You instantly save time, reduce errors, and increase flexibility with the General Ledger Reporting tools available online.

Tax Services

Taxes may be inevitable, but they don’t need to be difficult! Big Fish currently services hundreds of clients across the United States with our Comprehensive Tax Management Service. Big Fish also offers a second level of tax filing service, a Tax Notification service for clients who wish to have the flexibility and control of making their own tax payments.

Comprehensive Tax Management Service – This level of service includes the impounding and electronic payment of all tax liabilities. Big Fish will also prepare and file all quarterly and annual payroll tax returns with all federal and state agencies. Big Fish is responsible for the timely filing of all payroll tax payments and returns.

Tax Notification Service – Signature-ready tax checks are produced each payroll period. This service offers clients the flexibility to manage their own tax deposits. Big Fish creates the tax checks that are made payable to the proper agency, and the client is responsible for their timely deposit. The quarterly and annual returns are created for the client, and await their signature and submission to the appropriate agency.

Big Fish has established a formal relationship with an affiliate to provide Pay Cards for your employees. We have selected industry leader SOLE Financial to provide these services to our clients.

Pay Cards offer your employees the safety and convenience of having all, or part, of their wages sent to a debit card. The employee’s full amount of their take home pay, or only a portion, is “funded” onto the card using the same process as direct deposit.

You likely are familiar with the direct deposit process, whereby after the payroll processes the employees net pay is sent via the National Automated Clearing House (NACHA) system to be deposited into their personal bank account. The same process applies for a pay card. After the payroll processes the employee’s money is sent via direct deposit to their card.

The employees then may use their card just as they would a debit or credit card.

Employee Self-Service

Employee Self Service (ESS) is the process and associated technology which offers employees the opportunity to log on, view, print, and edit personal information.  The goal of acquiring an ESS platform is to “push” to the employees the management of their personal information, thus relieving the HR and/or Payroll Department from handling paper and making updates. The employees became true “owners” of their data.

Workers Compensation

Big Fish has partnered with several insurance brokers to offer Workers Compensation Insurance. Across the US workers compensation insurance remains an integral part of ensuring the coverage of medical claims for employees injured on the job. Here in the State of CA workers compensation rates have seen a steady decline in the premium costs to employers. If you are an employer in California you are required by law to carry Workers Compensation insurance.

The typical workers comp model requires that an employer pay an initial up-front down payment against projected payroll amounts and employee headcount. The employer is asked to provide periodic audits detailing eligible wages and associated premium costs. Often during this audit a check must be written to the insurance carrier to cover that audit period’s workers comp premium amount. This can often result in some “sticker shock”, especially when it is a several – thousand dollar expense that must be paid immediately.

A unique workers comp premium payment model offered by Big Fish, and our partners, is called “Pay-as-you-go”.

After each payroll is processed Big Fish automatically sends to our broker(s) a detailed list of the employees’ eligible workers compensation wages. The broker then forwards that wage data to the specific company that insurance coverage has been bound with. The insurance company then sends an email to the employer stating how much the current payrolls workers comp liability is. The premium amount is then deducted from the employer’s bank account.
